Don’t Forget Dessert! Easy Dutch Oven Blueberry Cobbler
No Camping Trip is Complete Without a Delectable Dessert
Since you managed to burn a whole lot of calories while you were out hiking, biking, or boating during the day, why not end the evening with a yummy, easy to make, dessert? You deserve it! We recommend this delicious take on blueberry cobbler. You will need to take along a dutch oven for this one, but trust us you will not regret packing this one extra thing as your family will end the day with a belly full of blueberry goodness.
Four Simple Ingredients is All You Need
One great thing about this recipe is it only requires four simple ingredients. You will need:
-
One 18 1/4 oz box of yellow or white cake mix
-
1/2 cup of butter or margarine
-
One 21 oz can of blueberry pie filling
-
Cinnamon to taste
Additionally, you will need to bring at least 25 charcoal briquettes with you. The charcoal briquettes will allow you to achieve more even cooking than over an open wood-driven fire.
A Few Straightforward Steps is All it Takes
Another bonus about this dessert is that it is pretty straightforward. First, place about 15 charcoal briquettes in a flat area in the fire ring. While those are heating, empty your pie filling into your dutch oven, and then spread the cake mix evenly over top of it. Next, cut the butter or margarine into even-sized slices and place them on the top of the cake mix. Place the lid on top of the dutch oven and place hot charcoal briquettes over the top of the lid. Your cobbler can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes to cook depending on how hot your coals are. When done, serve hot and enjoy!
